Polygon Community, We at Polygon Labs are thrilled to announce the historic launch of Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta! Earlier today, Vitalk Buterin performed the symbolic first transaction during a live launch–and took the first step to the frontiers of Web3. A quick breakdown of Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta: ✅ Permissionless and public ✅ Fast finality ✅ Open-source ✅ EVM-equivalent This is big news. Scaling Ethereum means scaling Ethereum’s entire developer ecosystem. Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta is EVM-equivalent, meaning existing smart contracts, developer tools, infrastructure, and more can be used seamlessly on Polygon zkEVM. And because it’s permissionless, it can be used right now. By anyone. Huge integrations are happening from the get-go: killer dApps like Lens and Balancer, blue-chip gaming projects like Midnight Society and Oath of Peak, and premier infrastructure providers like ANKR, Alchemy, Graph and Sequence, among many others. This brand new technology is SUPER exciting, but no new tech comes without risk. That said, security has always been the highest priority. All parts of Polygon zkEVM have been independently audited by two security teams, in addition to an internal audit by researchers at Polygon Labs. The Hexens’s security audit is already publicly available (https://polygon.technology/blog/polygon-zkevm-results-of-hexens-security-audit), while the audit by Spearbit will be made public as soon as it is finalized. Other security measures include a security council that can intervene in case of an emergency.
